Lecture "Enhancing, Not Replacing: Human-AI Interaction in Writing Tools for Augmented Creativity"
Dr. Donal Khosrowi from Leibniz University Hannover will give a lecture titled "Negotiating the Proper Roles for Machine Learning in Science" as part of the Lecture Series on AI in Science and Society on June 13, 2025, from 14:15 to 15:45 in room H27 (GW II).
Abstract: As AI technologies such as large language models (LLMs) continue to evolve, the ways we interact with them must also advance. Rather than replacing human creativity, these systems offer opportunities to augment and enhance it. In the context of writing tools, this means designing interfaces that empower users to collaborate with AI in meaningful and intuitive ways. In this talk, we explore the evolving landscape of human–LLM interaction, from prompting and prompt engineering to a more direct way of working with AI, and touch on novel interaction modes for mobile devices. A concrete application example illustrates the potential of these approaches to rethink long-standing interface designs by integrating AI from the ground up.
